The Mot test, also known as the Ministry of transport test, ensures that your vehicle is safe to drive and is road worthy. If you own a vehicle you'll know that it is required to go through an MOT test every year.

The MOT tests some important items on your vehicle to check that they meet the legal standards.

It isn’t the same as having your vehicle serviced and doesn’t check its general mechanical condition.

The test doesn’t cover the condition of the:

• clutch

• gearbox
